Modernizing Education, Leave no student behind

A serious conversation needs to start between the states to create a uniform educational process and perhaps a national curriculum. Not only that, a new approach to education itself needs to begin. With the huge advances in technology and the relative inexpensive cost of computer technology, the same technology needs to be levered to provide educational opportunities for all. Whereas children were being left behind with no chance of an equitable future due to an inflexible curriculum that expects all children of differing ability to achieve set results. Impossible.

Education needs a complete tune-up, teachers could be relieved of some of their pressure and become guides, formulating learning pathways for individual children based on their individual abilities and interests. This would work for both low achievers and high achievers, although if the technology is applied to a modern curriculum, these terms would not longer exist.

Early learning should definitely focus on the 3 R's such as reading, writing and arithmetic on a flexible scale, whilst the rest of time is taken determining individual talents, interests and abilities so children can discover there future pathways earlier. In the end, no child should be left behind.
